A proud First Nations production company, Kwassen Productions develops and produces quality Indigenous programming for television and film.

Kwassen is now in production on a new TV series for APTN and CHEK Media called “ Ocean Warriors” which highlights Indigenous rescuers off BC’s vast coastline. This 13-episode, 30 mins series is now in production
in 2022.

Shows such as the Leo Nominated TV Series “Tribal Police Files” which completed 3 seasons on APTN and the Award-Winning Leo TV series in 2015 “Warrior Games. Several films from Kwassen Productions include the award winning “Finding the Balance” and “Leave it on the Water” have Kwassen Productions as one of the leading Indigenous Production companies in western Canada.

Kwassen continues to develop multiple new projects and films which are now including co-productions with other productions inclusively.

Steve Sxwithul’txw

Steve Sxwithul’txw (swee-thult) is from the Penelakut Tribe located just off Vancouver Island, Canada. He was raised in the Cowichan Valley by his mother along with his 5 siblings. Steve is currently the president of Kwassen Productions / OCM Productions Inc. which is located out of his home community of Penelakut Island, BC.

Sxwithul’txw has recently been green lit for a new series on APTN and CHEK called “Ocean Warriors ~ Mission Ready” which focuses on volunteer Indigenous mariners who react to calls for boaters in distress along BC’s vast coastline. Principal photography will commence next May 2022. Steve is also working on a short film called “Shaping Our Future” which inmates for a local jail will assist in carving a 40 ft totem pole along with master carver Tom LaFortune. This will commence in 2022.

In 2020, Steve directed & is producing his own series called “Tribal Police Files” Season 3 on APTN in 2020 which is now in post-production for release in 2022. He also directed a short film called “Finding the Balance” about 4 First Nations who are working to protect their territorial waters off southern Vancouver Island. It is currently now being show in the film festival circuits around the world. In 2018, Steve directed his first short film called “Leave it on the Water” which highlights Indigenous youth working to train and fundraise to get the world’s largest outrigger canoe race in Hawaii. In 2014, Steve created the award-winning documentary series “Warrior Games” which was scene on APTN and CHEK on Vancouver Island. Steve hosted this multi–Leo Award winning series which highlights Indigenous sports across North America where he is taught by Indigenous youth and guided by the elders. 

His first passion is his family which includes his 3 children Jacob, Haley and Chelsea.

LOCATION

We are based out of beautiful Vancouver Island British Columbia, but we are able to travel to wherever we’re needed.
